We’re ALL lookin’ good!

While at the time of this post, it is impossible for us to win the series against Cardinals, I am feeling really good about the season.  If you take into account that there are 162 games, and the season is a grind, I have 3 reasons why the Brewers will be successful at the end of this marathon of a season.

We got depth

The Brewers might be the deepest team in the National League Central, if not all of the NL.  We have 7 legitimate starters on our major league roster, and all of our backups except maybe Inglett are good enough to start in the Majors.  Our biggest problem last year was having guys step up in place of injured players.  I think this year injuries won’t hurt us.  It’s only a matter of time before someone has a major injury, and we need to be ready for it.  I can’t remember the last Brewers season where a starter or a member of our rotation did NOT get injured.  And very rarely we have somebody who can take their place and not miss a step.  While some may argue that we have too many good players, and not enough great players, I’m just thankful we have good players to replace our other injured good players.

We got Braun and Prince

I know opening day things didn’t go that well for our big boppers, but c’mon, what a nasty combination to have in the middle of the lineup.  Fielder hits for power and causes defensive alignment problems, and Braun just hits, and hits, and hits, like its his job (don’t think too hard, it IS his job).  I’m telling you, Braun looks like had a pretty intense offseason as far as working out goes, and I forsee those tiny, minor, pesky injuries that he usually gets to not be a problem.

We got a 7 inning game

LaTroy Hawkins might be our most underrated move of the last 5 years, because we have nothad a legitimate set up man for a long time.  So long in fact, that I hard time finding a name while researching this blog!  I know Hoffman just had a tough outing, but this guy is a gamer and a warrior, and I don’t think that this early slip up is a sign of things to come.  This guy is gonna get everything straightened out and he will be fine.  Having Hoffman and Hawkins at the end shortens the game considerably.  Now we just got to get a lead!

While the record might not show it today, good things are on the way.  I’m confident, so you should be too!

Random Thought of the Day:
I actually had a student come up to me after opening day and say “Sorry that the Brewers lost yesterday Mr. J”.  I’m sure they will win today.  After telling this student how thoughtful that was to think about me, they responded with “you’re not going to give us more homework, are you?”

LaTroy Hawkins is the Dick Clark of right-handed relievers, he doesn’t age. I don’t think he has really progressed in his career as many thought he would, but the dude hasn’t regressed either. He is 37 years old and still throws cheese. Sorry for the Wisconsin pun. This was a good signing for the Brew Crew.

BTW- I friggin love Milwaukee. I visited last year…yeah Summerfest!

You may find my blog entertaining. I do.

Still like to see the views of fans on their teams and the chances they have to the ultimate goal… I think your best acquisition this year was Randy Wolf…. good luck with beating the Cards out this year…
